Featured classes & workshops this month:
Linux Playground & Compile Time
Saturday 11/9, 1-2:30 & 3:00-4:00
Join us on Saturday for either one or both of these excellent classes that will help you better understand the world of Linux operating systems and the programs that run on them. Open Source is everywhere, but what is it, really? How do I use it, and make it work for me? Linux Playground will give students an opportunity to answer the question, “what is Linux?” and play around with numerous different versions of Linux. In Compile Time you will learn the basics of compiling software, taking open source code and installing it on your computer, even if the programmer didn’t create a nice package for you.
Lego Robotics: Beginning Basics to Build and Program
Saturday 11/23 1:00-3:00
This is a hands-on, interactive class where students will learn the basics of building and programming with Lego Mindstorms. Groups will work together to engineer and build robots with Legos, servo motors and sensors. They will then learn basic programming in NXT-G to perform tasks and bring the robots to life! All ages are welcome. Presented by FIRST Robotics Competition team #2093 ~ The Bowtie Brigade, a student-lead community team composed of students from six different middle and high schools.
