The Receiving and Sorting Associate reports to the Receiving, Sorting, and Recycling Supervisor and has primary responsibility to efficiently and effectively carry out the collection, sorting, and processing of incoming donations in support Free Geek’s reuse activities. This includes on-site and off-site collection of donations. The position works closely with volunteers and donors, providing high quality customer service and a welcoming environment for fellow employees and those who access Free Geek’s services. This position is represented by a union, and application for union membership is mandatory upon hire.

Free Geek seeks a detail-orientated and organized individual with some grit and curiosity to provide critical administrative supports to a mission-driven staff of over 30.
Free Geek’s mission is to recycle technology and provide access to computers, the Internet, education, and job skills in exchange for community service. It’s a mission that’s worked for us through the many changes since our founding in 2000. Believing firmly that reuse is the highest and best form of recycling, we refurbish what we can and send it back out into the community with a new lease on life.
Primary responsibilities include overseeing or providing daily office activities, including payroll, human resources, accounting, and general administrative support for Free Geek. Many responsibilities are confidential in nature dealing with personnel matters, employee information and files and payroll.
