In fact you guys also donated computers to my old school which chose to manually upgrade to 12.04. As a volunteer I was never even told about the switch you guys were making until just the last month and I subscribe to the mailing lists... Seems like you could have done a survey on the mailing lists... notably my FreekBox runs Ubuntu 12.10 and 12.04 just fine. Be a little more democratic next time? There was a lot of debate about the Unity interface and if it would work for our particular user base, but we ultimately decided it would be better to stick with something that better aligned with current common conventions (although even that's changing with the new Windows 8 interface and OSX moving toward a more iOS approach). Thanks for the thoughts on Unity. I definitely recommend people give it a try, just to see if it works for them. We love you too! Apparently there's a project called <a href="http://www.pcworld.com/article/261723/the_new_pure_gnome_ubuntu_linux_is_coming_this_fall.html" rel="nofollow"> GNOMEbuntu</a> that aims to do just that. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcFUcur0HaU" rel="nofollow">This video</a> also purports to show you how to install Gnome 2 on your desktop. We haven’t played around with Gnome 2 on Ubuntu ourselves, but it looks like you’re not alone. Apparently there’s a project called GNOMEbuntu that aims to do just that.
