October Classes Now Online!
The new October class schedule is now available online and via a printable PDF. Notable new additions include Introduction to CiviCRM, Joomla 1, and Inkscape 1.
Unless otherwise indicated, all classes require pre-registration. You can do so by stopping by or calling the Free Geek Volunteer Desk at 503-232-9350. Classes are free and open to the public; you do not need to be a volunteer to attend.
Introduction to CiviCRM

CiviCRM is the dominant open source customer relationship management software for non-profits and other organizations. CiviCRM easily integrates with websites built using WordPress, Joomla and Drupal. This short introduction will help explain how this tool can help organizations track contributors, events, member lists, cases, grants, campaigns, petitions, bulk mailings and reports.

Students who have taken our Introduction to CMS class and want to learn more about using Joomla to build their websites will have an opportunity to dive into the various options available through this software.
Inkscape 1

Learn the basics of Inkscape, a vector-based drawing program and the open source equivalent to Adobe Illustrator. This class explains the difference between raster-based graphics and vector graphics and when you would want to use one over the other.
