Turn unwanted IT assets into community impact.
Protect your company's data. Safeguard the environment. You can have it all — Free Geek makes it easy.
Free Geek is committed to the sustainable reuse of technology. We transform your tax-deductible technology donation into digital access, education, and opportunity.
Why choose Free Geek for data sanitization and destruction?
We are fully dedicated to maintaining the security of your data. We take the utmost care to ensure complete data destruction on every single data-bearing device we receive. When you donate data-bearing devices, they are routed directly to our secure data area. Computer hard drives that meet our reuse specifications are wiped clean in our hard drive sanitation banks. Those not slated for reuse are physically destroyed so that the data is unrecoverable. Our data destruction process for computer hard drives utilizes a technique called DOD Short or triple-wiping, ensuring that all data is completely unrecoverable.

The ethical, secure destruction of your data is critical. Partnering with Free Geek means joining the ranks of Multnomah County, the City of Portland, Boeing, ON Semiconductor, and many others who trust us to destroy sensitive financial, healthcare, and public data.
This is just a win-win situation for all of us.

We pick up your donations.
Our friendly staff will pick up your technology with minimal disruption to your day. By scheduling your electronics recycling pickup with Free Geek, you'll know that your technology is being recycled according to the highest ethical standards or reused in one of our valuable community programs.
Free Geek accepts nearly everything that plugs into a computer or uses electricity, with some exceptions.
All donations are tax-deductible.
Your contributions of technology are tax-deductible, and they directly impact underserved members of your own community. In addition to getting technology into the hands of the people who need it, your contributions also help to fund our free class offerings, technical support, and volunteer programs.
You can help close the digital divide.
Corporate donations are three times as likely to be reused than items donated by community members. Those refurbished computers go to K-12 students, nonprofits, Free Geek volunteers, and low-income families. In 2017 alone, Free Geek gave more than 42,000 items of technology back to the community. We couldn’t have done it without donors like you.
In addition to e-waste processing, Free Geek offers opportunities to elevate your service to the community. We can partner on promotional events, co-branding, and much more.
