FREE GEEK PUBLIC DONATION HOURS: WEDNESDAY - SATURDAY | 11AM - 4PM. *Free Geek will be closed Saturday 4/20 for #TechNOW*

See below for frequently asked questions regarding TechNOW.

What can I donate?

In order to focus efforts on the devices most in demand, the Free Geek TechNOW Drive will only accept laptops (including their power adapters), tablets, and cellphones.

Other technology donations, including CPUs, monitors, keyboards, mice, etc. will be welcomed by Free Geek at a future date.

For large donations of 10 or more computers, or corporate donations, please email Durran Champie.

Where can I drop off my donations?

A number of local businesses have offered their parking lots as technology drop sites for the Free Geek TechNOW Drive. View the dropsite schedule here.

What does the donation drop-off process look like?

Donating is simple, easy and safe by following these four steps.

  • Before you arrive at the donation site, please prepare your donation (e.g. untangle & tie up any cords, remove laptops from bags, and attach any power adapters to their associated equipment, etc.).
  • When it is your turn simply unload the donation directly into the bin provided, and you are done!

For the safety of our community, we ask that donors wear a face covering and maintain a 6-foot distance from staff (and other donors) at all times.

Do donations have to be in perfect condition?

No. Free Geek will accept and refurbish donations in any condition.

Will someone be able to help me unload my donations from my car?

For everyone’s safety and in order to maintain strict social distancing, we will be unable to help you unload donations from your car.

Your health and well-being are our top priorities. The structure of this drive is such to ensure social distancing.

Will I get a donation receipt for this drive?

Due to the expected volume of drop offs and to ensure the safety of everyone involved, Free Geek will not be offering receipts on site at these events. You can visit receipt.freegeek.org to fill out a brief form and have a receipt emailed to you.

Do I have to disinfect my donations?

No. Free Geek follows a disinfecting process for all donations before they are distributed. There is no action required on your end to disinfect your items.

Do I need to wipe my data from my donated electronics?

No. All data-containing devices donated to Free Geek undergo a secure data sanitation and destruction process before being distributed to beneficiaries. Learn more about Free Geek’s data security process here

Can I drop off my donations directly at Free Geek?
