Dear Friend,
Every day I am humbled and amazed by the overwhelming support we see from our community. Today, as we give thanks, I wanted to especially thank you for everything you do to support Free Geek.
As Free Geek’s Board Chair, I know just what it takes to keep the lights on, and without the engagement you have with our organization, the lights would have been out a long time ago. Because of you, we’ve been able to continue providing our services and do more good than ever before. Over the last year, we’ve recycled over 800,000 pounds of e-waste and gifted 1,365 computers to people that need them the most. This year alone, you’ve helped us provide laptops to over 200 students through our Plug into Portland program, where K-12 students can volunteer 24-hours at any nonprofit and receive a refurbished computer from Free Geek.
Gabriel and Sophia are twin 3rd graders, volunteering throughout our community; planting trees, cleaning up trash, bagging potatoes at the Oregon Food Bank, and repairing books for kids. They worked hard to help make their community a better place, and we were able to provide them both with a refurbished Free Geek laptop through Plug into Portland. Now both Gabriel and Sophia can do their homework, and succeed in school because of you!
As a community, we are growing stronger every day. Whether you’re a donor, a volunteer, a supporter or even just a fan, you are the backbone of Free Geek, and we are so thankful to have you as a part of our team. Without you, none of this would be possible.
