FREE GEEK PUBLIC DONATION HOURS: WEDNESDAY - SATURDAY | 11AM - 4PM. *Free Geek will be closed Saturday 4/20 for #TechNOW*

What a year it’s been… The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live, and none are more impacted than our students. This time last year, more than 75,000 students across Oregon were without the devices they need to access distance learning. Since then, Free Geek has been working around the clock to provide students with necessary digital access. Over the last year, we’ve provided 422 computers to students in need, students like Hailee.

A 7th grader at Parkrose Middle School, Hailee needed a computer to get online and get back to school. Because of your support, we were able to get Hailee a desktop computer right away. This device quickly became her lifeline, connecting her with friends, teachers and resources -- she even found a math tutor and was able to catch up on her school work. And today, Hailee is thriving in school and looking forward to starting 8th grade next year!

Now more than ever, access to a computer is life changing. Some students have returned to in-person classes, but the hybrid educational model still leaves students without computers unable to finish their assignments outside of school hours.

Today, our work is more important than ever before. Every day we’re working to bridge the digital divide, so students like Hailee can get online and get back to school.

As we look at the long term impacts of COVID-19 on our community, giving families access to technology is a lifeline to help students continue their education. Free Geek is determined to equipt every child we can with the tools they need to thrive in a digital learning environment, and thrive through this crisis.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Free Geek -- our work is only possible because of you.
